Cakung Lama River Dredging Work Has Touched 80 Percent

Cakung Lama River dredging is targeted to be complete in early December. Based on the latest news, the dredging work has touched 800 meters or around 80 percent.
North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head Adrian Mara Maulana said, all this time, the river was often overflowed and caused puddles in the residential area.

He explained the river itself stretches across Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Tugu Selatan, Sukapura, Semper Barat and Semper Timur. This river flow is connected to the Betik, Progo and Sepatan rivers before reaching the Cakung Drain River. From Cakung Drain, the water is flowed into the sea in Cilincing area.
"We have sent two excavators to the location, with details one type amphibious and one type bill," he told.
Cilincing Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head Cahyo Budi Setiawan added dredging was done by transporting mud up to 2-3 meters depth. As planned, the work would take one kilometer length of the river, starting from upstream around Agung Sedayu to Betik River in Semper Barat.
"Prior to dredging, the river depth is almost evenly less than 50 centimeters. Now about 80 percent of the work is done," he stated.
